Winter Session: January 13- March 5, 2025

Please Note: In keeping with the Covid Safe policies of the Outpost Performance Space, each teacher will determine whether masks will be required or not. But regardless, masks are at the very least HIGHLY ENCOURAGED for all who can do so and still play their instruments (i.e. drummers, bass players, keyboard players, etc). We will also continue to make an effort to maximize the distance between participants in the in-person classes!

All classes, whether online or in person, classes are taught by the Outpost team comprising saxophonist Kanoa Kaluhiwa; bassist Rodney Bowe; and percussionist/trombonist, César Bauvallet. All classes cover music theory, ear training, solo development, song forms and various rhythm section approaches and aim to build positive attitudes, trust, teamwork cooperation, confidence, compassion and a sense of humor—skills and values that will serve participants well beyond the workshop and throughout their entire educations and lives. In short, if you want to be there, we want you and a good time will be had by all.

IN PERSON CLASSES: When classes are held in person, both Youth and Adults perform a recital for family and friends at the end of their second session. It is expected that students will have their own instruments to bring to class. Outpost will provide a piano, a drum set, and guitar & bass amplifiers.

TO ENROLL FOR IN PERSON CLASSES:
Ages: Minimum age 10 up to (and including) High School Senior. Class limit: 12 (minimum of 7 is required). We ask that students (youth & adult) show up a few minutes early on the first day of the class they would like to attend. That said, in order to make this the best experience for all participants, we may have to assign students to a different class based on their age, skill level and/or schedules. Call us at 268-0044 for more information.

Please Note: Classes will be in person unless health and safety circumstances change, at which time we will keep you posted on any updates. CLICK ON EACH CLASS FOR FULL CLASS DESCRIPTION.
