It’s That Time Again! Outpost’s Year End Fundraiser ~ Season’s Pleadings!

It’s the season of giving, and, that means it’s time again for Outpost’s Annual Year End Fundraising Appeal – Season’s Pleadings, our most important fundraising appeal of the year, when your 100% tax deductible donation makes all the difference! WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT MORE NOW THAN EVER so we can continue to present the best in jazz, international and experimental music, folk, blues and more, plus educational programs, art exhibits, & more year-round!  A few words from Outpost Founder/Director, Tom Guralnick below:

November 2023
Dear Outpost Friends,

YEP! It’s that time again! Time for Outpost’s Year-End Fundraising Appeal —Season’s Pleadings — our most important fundraising appeal of the year, when your tax-deductible gift has the greatest impact on Outpost’s programs! Last year at this time, we talked about the great year we had as we were emerging from the pandemic. It’s hard to believe that we are still talking about the pandemic, but we gotta do it because we are still feeling the effects as audiences remain hesitant to return to intimate venues like the Outpost Performance Space. Listening to my colleagues in the field, this is true throughout the industry.

This past year was another fantastic one – first with limited audiences and masks required and then, as things loosened up, with higher capacity and voluntary masking. But, with audience numbers still slightly down, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT NOW MORE THAN EVER in order to continue to provide world class music, art and educational programs in our intimate, friendly, respectful Outpost Performance Space as well as other venues.

Last year and the beginning of this season have been great at Outpost in so many ways! We had a terrific spring and summer season (Mark Guiliana, Immanuel Wilkins, David Doucet, AfroMundo Festival 2023, Magos Herrera, Geoff Muldaur, and the all-NM-based Artists’ Summer Thursday Jazz Nights Series, to name a few) and once again in September, we were able to present the New Mexico Jazz Festival (17th Annual) featuring a stunning and exciting three weeks of music (24 events in 25 days) in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos. And now, we look forward to the Spring 2024 Season! Some of the highlights include Magos Herrera; Bernstein/Goldings/Stewart Organ Trio; Jane Bunnett & Maqueuque; Armen Donelian; Ethan Iverson; Spring Record Fair; AfroMundo Festival 2024 w. Hubby Jenkins; Diane Richardson; John Hollenbeck’s George; Bobby Shew & Greg Ruggiero; Joe Fonda; Andy Milne Trio & more! It’s going to be another exciting one, and, of course IT’S ONLY MADE POSSIBLE WITH YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT!

We know we can continue to thrive and be stronger than ever as we move into another new year! Won’t you be part of our big, wonderful supportive family? MAKE A YEAR-END, TAX DEDUCTIBLE GIFT TODAY HERE! OR send a check to Outpost Productions, Inc., PO Box 4543, Albuquerque, NM, 87196. We thank you in advance for your love, generosity and support these many years, and we look forward to sharing the rest of the 2023-2024 season with you.

Goldings/Bernstein/Stewart Organ Trio

March 19, 2024 • 7:30pm – 9:30pm

sponsored by Van & Sandy Gilbert

“Three master musicians, collectively viewed as the most creatively durable organ trio in jazz,” (All About Jazz), Hammond B3 organist Larry Goldings, guitarist Peter Bernstein, and drummer Bill Stewart have played together as a trio for over 30 years. Recognized for charting new ground with their “synergistic playing, and thoughtful music,” they have released over a dozen recordings, all of which highlight their distinctive sound, which explores the depths of jazz standards and their own original work. Of their latest release, Toy Tunes Downbeat writes, “The whole album subtly subverts organ-trio cliches, offering not chicken-shack party stomps but instead some hip after-hours atmospherics.” Best known for his jazz exploration, Larry Goldings also performs funk, pop, and electronic music, and, over the years, has been closely associated with everyone from John Scofield, Michael Brecker, Maceo Parker, Madeleine Peyroux, and Pat Metheny, to James Taylor and John Mayer. In 2007, his recording with Jack DeJohnette and John Scofield entitled Trio Beyond – Saudades, received a Grammy nomination for Best Jazz Instrumental Album. Peter Bernstein has been a part of the jazz scene in New York and abroad since 1989, participating in over 200 recordings and numerous festival, concert and club performances. He has released 12 albums as a leader and was a member of Joshua Redman’s band and also performed with Diana Krall’s quartet and the legendary organist Dr. Lonnie Smith.  Since 1990, Bill Stewart has made his name as the rhythmic force behind guitarist John Scofield with whom he still collaborates regularly. One of the most sought-after jazz drummers in the world, he has also toured extensively with Pat Metheny, Maceo Parker, Kevin Hays, Joe Lovano, Joshua Redman, Charlie Haden and many others, in addition to leading his own band.
