Trumpeter Michael Morreale is a solo artist, composer and educator in the New York Metropolitan area where he leads his own small jazz ensembles and big band. As a sideman, he is featured on six albums and two world tours with Joe Jackson. He has performed with saxophonist Jerry Vivino, Keely Smith, Chuck Wayne, Loren Schoenberg’s Orchestra, Lou Anderson’s All American Band and Tommy Igoe’s Friday Nite Big Band, to name a few, and he also led The Staten Island Chamber Music Players Jazz Quartet for 25 years. Morreale counts Miles Davis as his biggest influence and inspiration throughout his career, and in 2017 released Vol. 2: Milessong, The Music of Miles Davis – a two disc, 14 song set. He also released his first recording as a leader, Vol. 1: Love and Influence, which features original compositions for sextet and quartet. Along with music from these two recordings, Morreale will be performing music from his most recent release: Vol. 3, Stories of Recent Vintage with his quartet featuring Alex Murzyn, tenor and soprano saxophones; Tony Regusis, piano; Colin Deuble, bass; and John Trentacosta, drums.
Michael Morreale will also perform with the Straight Up Reunion Band for the Santa Fe Music Collective on Friday, April 3 at SITE Santa Fe. Info at www.santafemusiccollective.org
