2010 ABQ Grand Slam Poetry Slam Championship

Outpost welcomes back the biggest night in Albuquerque performance poetry, as ABQSlams presents the 2010 ABQ Grand Slam Poetry Slam Championship. Ten of Albuquerque’s top performance poets will compete for the title of ABQ Slam Champion as well as a spot on the 2010 ABQ Poetry Slam Team, which will represent the Duke City at the National Poetry Slam in St. Paul, MN in March.  Last year’s ABQ Slam Team placed second  at the National Poetry Slam in West Palm Beach. ABQSlams has presented poetry slams in Albuquerque since 1995, showcasing some of the best performance poets in the Southwest, and winning the National Poetry Slam in 2005. Among the poets expected to appear in this year’s three-round ABQ Grand Slam are Christian Drake, Zach Kluckman, Damien Flores, Joseph Andres Romero, Tracey Pontani, Sarah Tafoya and Jasmine “Jazz” Sena.
